Robo Wunderkind x SPCA cooperation

Our biggest dream is to show kids that they can use technology to create valuable things and to learn about the world around them. Today we got one step closer to achieving that dream: we are launching a new partnership with the Scottish animal welfare charity SPCA.

Robo Wunderkind, the leading European edtech company, is delighted to announce a new partnership with Scottish SPCA (The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).  Developers of the world’s easiest modular robotics kits and software platform that helps children understand the fundamentals of technology are teaming up with Scotland’s animal welfare charity to introduce robotic-based workshops as an innovative way to inspire children to learn through play.

Starting from January 2019, SPCA will be offering primary school pupils across Scotland the chance to build and code their own animal-themed robot as part of the Society’s free “Prevention through Education” Programme.

The Scottish SPCA reaches over 250,000 children annually and aims to continue encouraging compassionate behavior towards all animals using Robo Wunderkind’s modular robots.

Gilly Mendes Ferreira, Scottish SPCA Head of Education and Policy said, “This unique new addition to the programme will be a great tool that will capture children’s imagination, encourage them to have fun and be creative, and emphasizes how amazing animals really are. It also links with STEM curriculum, which puts a special focus on problem-based learning so that the students can instantly apply the knowledge they’re gaining.

“Through collaborative work with the University of Edinburgh, we know that our programme has a significant impact on children’s knowledge about animals, their welfare needs and on children’s beliefs that animals have feelings.”

Anna Iarotska, Robo Wunderkind CEO and co-founder said, “Our team is very excited about the cooperation with Scottish SPCA. Robo Wunderkind team have always been very interested in expanding the ways of using our robots beyond traditional “teaching coding” field. Robo Wunderkind’s mission is to inspire children to start creating and experimenting with coding and robotics using. Our new partnership pilot embodies a truly innovative approach of using technology to help kids learn about the world around them.”
